Harmonyjunky: Community Choirs Diary

Community Choirs

Most of these choirs are run on the principles of the Natural Voice Practioners’ Network: they are open to everyone regardless of ability or experience, there are no auditions, we learn the songs be ear and sing without written music. We sing songs from all round the world: from Eastern Europe to Africa, from Beachboys to Bulgaria. Anything with a mouthwatering harmony will do!

Fortnightly on Monday, 10.30-11.45. Buddhist Centre, Queen Street.

This Choir will start up again on Jan 17th 2022. The dates are: Jan 17th and 31st. Feb 14th and 28th, March 14th and 28th. We will warm up outside in the lovely garden if at all possible and go indoors to sing for a shortish time in a socially distanced way. There are lots of windows and a DOOR to the outside world. I am measuring ventilation using a CO2 monitor. Wrap up warm to come to choir!

Tuesday mornings, 10.30-12.15.  Oswestry Cricket Club, Morda Road, Oswestry, SY11 2AY

This choir is starting again on 10th January 2022. There is no singing at half term (Tues 22nd Feb)...but apart from that we appear to be unstoppable!. In order to keep the air fresh we are doing several things: We are doing a slightly shorter session and having a break outside; We are always singing in a socially distanced way; We keep 3 sets of french doors open throughout the session and if you’d still like more space but the joy of joining in the harmonies….you are welcome to stay outside on the verandah.I am also monitoring ventilation with a gadget!  Dress up super-warm! Please contact if you want more info. Note Feb 8th we are in Llanymynech Hall.

The choir is friendly and welcoming.. Anyone can come regardless of experience. You can come for a taster session (or 2) and then sign up for a term or half term.

There is a door to the outside world which we keep open throughout, and I have a ventilation monitoring system to make sure we are getting a good circulation of air.

We are a fun and informal choir who sing and like to have a good laugh and maybe have a drink after choir. We learn songs by ear and make a great sound. The harmonies are sumptuous and the choir members are friendly!
